Why?

For years we've talked about giving our kids an immersion experience in another culture.  This year we are making it happen!  We'll spend a year in Cuenca Ecuador learning about the country and its varied cultures.  We are looking forward to this amazing family experience, and to sharing it here!.

Lucia:

I am really excited and nervous about going to Ecuador! I cant wait to be part of the culture and learn about the food and traditions. I can’t wait to meet new friends and have fun! Even though I will miss every one I am excited and can communicate on this blog with you.

Gabe:

I am feeling sort of nervous: scared and happy at the same time. I am looking forward to learning about the culture and going to the Amazon rain forest.  I think it will be really fun.

Elena:

Right now I am a little overwhelmed by everything we need to do to get ready to go!  I feel incredibly lucky that we can make this happen.  I am looking forward to being immersed in a new culture, to speaking Spanish on a daily basis, and to having this adventure with my family!  Oh, and I'm also really excited to explore the natural wonders in Ecuador.

Doug:

Doug hasn't yet made an entry but we bet at least part of his motivation has to do with the many bird species that make Ecuador their home! He might even take Elena to see the Plate Billed Mountain Toucan she missed last time..
